BOARD MEETING – February 13, 2013 – 6:00 pm
at Barry Simon’s home: 4110 Marble NE
MINUTES

Board Members Attending: Barry Simon, Laurie Moye, Dan Drennan, Mark Hyland, Carla
Kugler, Carol Morris, Larry Seebinger, Maggie Peterson
Other N.A. Members Attending: Sheila ter Bruggen

1. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm.

2. Minutes

Minutes from the last Board Meeting on November 25, 2012 were reviewed and unanimously approved.

3. Proposed Bike Path/Boulevard

Sheila ter Bruggen presented the District 7 Coalition Initiative regarding funding for a
bike path/boulevard to move bike traffic from eastern Albuquerque to the university
area, and raised the possibility that we may want to consider having the pathway extend through our neighborhood. After discussion, it was decided that Sheila would contact Bill Hoch as our District 7 Coalition Representative, and Barry Simon would contact Tony Duran, Policy Analyst for our City Councilor, Mike Cook, for more information.

4. Special Variance Request

Barry Simon noted that Jeffrey West of 715 Morningside NE had applied for a 10’
variance for his back lot so that he could build a structure there, and that the Zoning
Hearing officers were meeting on February 19 to decide his case. Barry and Laurie will
try to get more information about the request, in the event that other neighbors raise
issues or ask about our N.A.’s role.

5. 501(c)(3) Status

It was noted that since our N.A. is not a 501(c)(3) organization, our dues are not tax-deductible.

6. By-Laws

By-Law revisions will be presented for approval at the next General Meeting on March. They may be viewed on our N.A. website, and Maggie will also send them out as an
email attachment.
